Feeling wet

Image
It's amazing how many people you can meet after falling into the canal, first time out in my new Kayak and getting out proved to be a problem till I fell into the canal.

Local view 3

The last of the mill shots for now.

Local view 2

Away with the fairies

Image
Another very late blog post, a long photoshoot just finished and an early start tomorrow.

Wet dog walk

Image
Very busy with work, not a problem I suffered the first time I did the blog. So tonight's very late post is fitted in after a very wet dog walk, the boys always come first. The picture is from last years Bloor Sheep Dog Trials, on a very misty first day.

Cars

Image
A shot from a photo shoot do a couple of years ago, not all my shoots are this glamorous, but this week I will be shooting at a spa.

Beach

Last of the beach shots, till I get a chance to get to a beach.

Bird song

Image
Up with the dawn chorus, and out for a networking meeting in Stoke. Now working in the garden with the birds singing in the background.

Happy Birthday Trig.

Image
It's the Trigs birthday, it was first used on the 18th April 1936.   The trig pillar was first used in the retriangulation of Great Britain in 1936. On that day, a group of surveyors gathered around a white concrete pillar in a field in Cold Ashby and began the retriangulation of Great Britain. So to celebrate a Trig picture, a windy day on Gummer How.

Art in the park

Image
Normally at this time of the year, I would be getting geared up for a very busy May. I would be clearing out my old stock and printing up new pictures and looking forward to some of the best markets of the year. This year I have only the Sunday Sup as one of my favourite markets has been canceled so I thought a picture taken a few years ago would be nice.

Odd Monday

Image
I try not to have a routine and just do what things that needs to be done around things that I want to do. So today started with a dog walk on the canal, then a bit of paperwork, then a trip out to buy a Kayak and then to finish the day off with a meeting. Now I'm off for another dog walk before tea.

Judge for yourself

Image
Been down to spode for the last day of an exhibit of photos from a photo competition. The photos were mostly of a good standard, but like most photo competitions the judging gave some unusual results. From my point of view I would have picked a different 3, I know its all down to personal choice.

Looking forward

Dug out an old holiday picture from last year, Bude in Cornwall. It won't be long til summers here.

Doxy's pool

A bit of a rough day on top of the Roaches.

Early mornings

Image
Being self-employed is great, I can get up and do as I please every day of the week, so this picture is from my early morning dog walk at the start of the week. This morning was an even earlier start for a B4B breakfast meeting, maybe not as much fun but very good for business.

Flame on, Burn desire, 10 years on.

Image
I am always stuck for things to write on the blog, part of doing this again after 10 years was to push myself, so today I had the idea to look at the post from this day 10 years ago. It turns out that it was a big day back then, so I've reproduced the post with its picture. I’m back, at work that is. For the friends who don’t know me a bit of history, I have been away from my job for the last 6 months due to the effects of stress. We all suffer from stress and put up with it, so to admit to being off work with it feels like admitting that I had sexual disease. But that is one of the problems, we don’t talk about it, people around you (maybe even you) are suffering without any real need. With me it crept up on me over 2 years, slowly changing my personality and how I interacted with people, till I went to the doctors with what I thought was an illness which turn out to be a symptom. It was only after 3 months of recovery that I realised just how bad I had been. Now thanks

Air time

Image
Marley getting some good air chasing after a frisbee. Both dogs just love this toy and will run themselves ragged playing with it.

Eric Bristow

Image
Tried to find a suitable picture but failed, so this will have to do. Eric Bristow was a local as well as a national celebrity and we took it for granted to see him walking past. My strongest memory was the night of my stag night, I was out with a group of mates, some of which had come from outside the area. We were in the Bulls Head, when two of the group came up to say that there was a bloke playing darts that looked just like Eric Bristow, they were stunned when we told them he was Eric Bristow.

Spring morning

Image
One of the benefits of being self-employed is taking time out whenever you want, so this morning I took an hour out to help Caz walk the dogs down on the canal. When this is the view just a few yards from home I sometimes wonder why I bother to travel anywhere else.

Top dog

Image
Ziggy on top of Carlside in the Lake District, this hill is on the way to the top of Skiddaw and on that day it was freezing with thick ice on the top. On the plus side, we got some dramatic light and some great pictures.

Des Rez

Image
I love old abandoned buildings, so when I saw this in Wales I just had to photograph it.
