The Beast from the East part 2

Image
Last year I came across a watch I had always wanted, a vintage G Shock, in a junk shop for only £2. This set me thinking that there might be other watches out there that might be worth a look. Fast forward 10 months and my third collectable watch has just arrived from the Ukraine, it's a Soviet Russian era Boctok Amphibian, Boctock means East in Russian. It's a 17 jewel mechanical watch, that is waterproof down to 200 meters, so for the price, it is a great watch with a bit of history. This watch is now due for a bit of a makeover as after 25 years or more it is showing its age, so when all the bits have arrived I will post an update.

Past work, Waitrose, Leek

Sorting pictures out for a client today as they want to see some of my work on refurbishments so my shoot for Waitrose will be just the job.

Beast from the East

Image
Well the beast from the east is due to hit the area this week. Hoping to plan a few shoots to catch the snow and ice, unless it all turns out to be a damp squib. The picture if from Ramshaw Rocks looking towards Leek

It's getting colder.

Rock on Ramshaw Rocks, near Leek. With the cold spell starting to bite, it's a great chance to get out and get some great shots, just wrap up warm.

The Owl

Image
The Owl in Ladderedge country park, this thing freaks me out most nights when I walk our dogs, as from a distance it looks like someone just standing there watching you.

Big sky

A big and full sky over Tittesworth a few weeks ago.

That Friday feeling

Looking back over some old pictures and came across this of the Hop Yard at the Roebuck, the weather may be getting colder next week, but it won't be long till we can sit out here and enjoy a beer or 2.

Tops

Image
Photo are important, well you would expect a photographer to say that, but photos mean different things to different people, so what important to me might not be to you. I take 1000's of photos, but the slide show on my desk top is of a group of around 200 pictures, that's less than 0.001% of the total pictures on my computer. These photos are a mixed bag of shots taken in the Lake District, all from the top of the hills, fells and mountains listed in the books by Alfred Wainwright. We started to collect or bag these tops quite a few years ago, having no real hill walking experience, and finished up being very skilled hill walkers in all conditions. The top left was my first big top, Fleetwith Pike, below that shot is Scarfell Pike, done in winter with loads of snow and ice, not a day for tourists. The reason they are on my desk top is not that they are the best of my work, infact alot are not even my photos, 3 of these arnt, its because they take me to a place that

I'm not Superman

Not the post I wanted for to day, but work got in the way and I'm not Superman.

Wet Monday

This sums up a very wet Monday morning, condensation on the window.

The Usual Suspects

The Usual Suspects or what to do for a picture if it has rained for a week, an old one from the blog.

Meet the family part 2

Following on from yesterdays post, here is Keps first picture on the blog, taken at Chatsworth House.

Meet the family part 1

Image
When I started the first blog, Kep was a frequent subject for pictures. His first appearance was being attacked by a sheep, very embarrassing for a sheepdog.

A new dawn

Image
A 6.30 start for a meeting at which I had a 10-minute presentation to do, is not the best way to recover from your birthday night out. 10 years ago just thinking I had to stand up and talk to a group would have left me sleepless and stressed, as it was I did it with no notes and zero rehearsal. The rest of the day is conspiring against me by being so lovely I just want to go out and photograph stuff. The picture is from 2011 and was taken at Consal on the Churnet Valley Railway.

Here we go again

Image
10 years ago today, I sat in this very spot and started a blog. I had no idea what I was doing or how much it would change my life. The blog was 365 to 42 and its effect on my life was stunning. Now I'm going to do it again, but this time I know what I am getting in to. The plan, as last time, is to post a photo a day till I'm 52, but this time it will be a mix of photos both old and new. Todays photo is from my bedroom window a few days ago.
